Tonbridge Swimming Pool reopened today for the first time since it was flooded over Christmas.
The cost of repairs to damaged equipment and the subsequent clean-up operation amounted to just over £300,000, but all the costs will be met by the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s insurers.
The council owns the pool, which is operated on their behalf by the Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust.
Scores of swimmers passed through the doors this morning.
Cllr Maria Heslop, the borough council’s cabinet member for leisure, youth and arts, said: “I am so pleased that we have been able to reopen the pool in time for the Easter holidays.
“This has been a huge project because as well as repairing vital pool plant and equipment, the pool has also been through an extensive cleaning process and I’d like to thank our customers for being patient while the work has been carried out.
“I’m pleased to report that the pool is now looking its very best once again and I’m delighted to welcome everyone back.”
