Tonbridge Athletic Club continued their successful winter campaign with one team gold and three team silvers in the South of England Cross Country Championships at Uxbridge on Saturday.
In the senior men’s race there was a superb result for the six times Kent champion, Mike Coleman, who was thirteen seconds away from a medal in fourth place.
In the under-15 boys’ race the Aldershot squad were marginal favourites but Tonbridge won the title for the third time in the past four years.
Tonbridge very nearly took a shock win in the under-17 women’s event, only losing the title to Aldershot by two points.
There was another extremely close contest in the under-17 men’s race, with Tonbridge again losing out to Aldershot but pushing Shaftesbury Barnet into the bronze medal spot.
The third set of silver medals was won by the Tonbridge under-13 boys’ team, who were also only beaten by Aldershot out of the 31 finishing teams.
