ALAN Walker has parted company with Tonbridge Angels FC. Chairman Paul Dainty said the decision had been made to "end the uncertainty" at the club.
Walker had taken Tonbridge to a 14 point lead at the top of the Doctor Martens Eastern Division, but three weeks ago he was told that his playing budget would have to be cut drastically if Tonbridge were to avoid going into the red.
Walker, his assistant Lloyd Hume and captain Peter Overton, initially agreed to stay on unpaid until the end of December, but since then Tonbridge have lost three consecutive league games, including a 1-0 home defeat to Chatham on Tuesday night. Their lead has been cut to seven points.
Dainty said: "What were we going to do? This was going to happen anyway, so when we saw the affect the uncertainty was having on the fans and the players we decided to act."
Hamid Barr and Tony Dolby have been put in temporary charge of team affairs.
