Tonbridge v Ramsgate

Tonbridge Angels are hoping for a repeat of last year’s FA Trophy campaign as they begin this year’s tournament against Kent rivals Ramsgate.

Tommy Warrilow’s side made it to the last 32 of the tournament last season with a win over Blue Square Premier side Oxford United in the process.

On Saturday Jim Ward’s Ramsgate side visit the Longmead Stadium for the first qualifying round tie.

Warrilow’s side will be aiming to get back on track following Tuesday’s 3-0 Ryman League, Premier Division defeat to AFC Hornchurch.

“We had enough opportunities in the first half to put that game to bed but didn’t take them and we gave away three sloppy goals,” said Warrilow.

“I speak with Jim Ward a lot and his side aren’t getting the rub of the green at the minute but I’ve never had an easy game against his side. I’m expecting a hard game but I’m hoping we have a run like last year.

“We’re taking the competition very seriously and we’ve got a realistic chance to have a go at it.

“We proved what we can do last year and we’ll be looking to stay in the competition for as long as possible.”

Michael Phillips should return after being unavailable for Tuesday’s game.

Midfielder Warren Schulz is Ramsgate's latest injury worry.

Schulz suffered a twisted knee in Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat against Carshalton Athletic and boss Jim Ward was due to check on his fitness at training.

Simon Pettit and Ben Laslett will be given another week to to recover from their respective ligament injuries, while striker Aaron Firth could be out for at least a month, nursing a recurrence of his knee injury.

It's the teams second meeting this season - Tonbridge winning 3-2 at Southwood in August.
