Tunbridge Wells teenager charged with attempted murder after stabbing at Grosvenor and Hilbert Park

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a boy was stabbed in a park.

Police were called to Grosvenor and Hilbert Park in Tunbridge Wells following reports a teenager had been assaulted.

The victim was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm on last Wednesday.

The following day a 16-year-old boy from Tunbridge Wells was arrested.

On Saturday he was charged with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, will appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.

Four other teenage boys detained in connection with the incident were later bailed to return to the police station, pending further investigation.

Detective Inspector Jim Farley, of Tonbridge CID, said: "Our officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to call the appeal line.

"We are also asking anybody with mobile phone footage of the incident to contact us."
