Fire at building in Lansdowne Road in Tunbridge Wells

Three people have received medical treatment after a building was evacuated by firefighters tackling a blaze.

Crews were called to a property next to a nursery in Lansdowne Road, Tunbridge Wells at around 11am.

Five fire engines were at the scene and a temporary road closure was put in place.

The building has been evacuated and one adult was treated for smoke inhalation. Two others were treated for superficial burns.

At the height of the incident six fire engines were at the scene but now there are only three.

Police were also called to the incident and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

An employee at the Victorian B&B said he heard sirens this morning but could no longer see any smoke.

Police spokesman Andy Saunders said: " Kent Police was called to a report of a fire at address in Lansdowne Road, Tunbridge Wells.

" The fire was attended by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Officers assisted at the scene with traffic management and a temporary road closure.

"The fire has now been put out and there are no serious injuries reported. One person has been treated for smoke inhalation."
