The Conservative Party candidate for Tunbridge Wells has announced investment in the NHS, better broadband and protecting rural communities as some of his priorities.

Greg Clark will be trying to win over residents votes in the upcoming election, taking place on December 12.

Mr Clark is the current MP for the area and won by a 16,465 majority in 2017.

Earlier this year he was expelled from the party by Boris Johnson after backing efforts to pass legislation to block a no-deal Brexit.

But he had the whip restored to him last month.

The 52-year-old lives in Tunbridge Wells with his wife and three children.

He was born in Middlesbrough where he went to the local comprehensive school before studying Economics at Cambridge University and the London School of Economics.

Before entering politics he worked in business and for the BBC.

He has served as a Government minister for nine years including most recently as Secretary of State for Business.

His current priorities include getting the A21 upgraded between Pembury and Lamberhurst; protecting rural communities from expansion without infrastructure improvements like transport and drainage; upgrading broadband and mobile services in country areas and investment in the local NHS, especially in mental health.

Greg has led major campaigns to get the Tunbridge Wells Hospital built and the A21 dualled between Tonbridge and Pembury.
