Police have seized a dog from a car park after reports it had bitten people trying to access stairwells.

Officers used powers under the Dangerous Dogs Act to remove the animal from Torrington Car Park in Tunbridge Wells on Thursday, November 30.

A woman had earlier reported that she had been bitten by the dog, which was described as resembling a Staffordshire bull terrier.

She had to attend hospital for treatment to puncture wounds on her leg.

Police attended the scene and as well as seizing the dog have spoken to a 20-year-old man from the local area, who is believed to be homeless and the owner of the dog.

A second incident was later reported by another woman, who said she had also been bitten.

Officers are now asking any other members of the public who may have been bitten, or felt threatened, by a dog in the car park to contact them.

Specifically they would like to hear from anyone who experienced issues on Thursday, or in the days immediately before.
