Police have released images of a hat found at the scene of a sex attack in Tunbridge Wells.

This week officers issued an image of a suspect, likely to have scratches on his face, after a woman was subject to a serious sexual assault in The Common.

Emergency crews were called to the park in Major Yorks Road at around 6pm on Sunday and sealed off the area for an entire night.

The suspect, who has been linked to the hat found at the scene, is described as a white man, around 6ft tall and in his 30s.

He was said to be wearing a navy blue top and dark coloured trousers.

Officers are also looking to find the victim’s mobile phone, an iPhone 4, which was in a red case and was dropped at the scene.

District Chief Inspector Dave Pate said: "We believe that the offender will have scratches to his face and this is a distinguishing feature that we would like people to consider. The victim dropped her mobile phone during the assault and we are keen to trace this.

"It was in a red case and we would appeal to anyone who finds the phone or the case to not touch it but to call police immediately.

"We are continuing to support the victim and would appeal to anyone who has any information, no matter how small it might be, to contact us as soon as possible."
