Tunbridge Wells handbag thief thwarted by passer-by

Police are on the hunt for a man who pushed a woman in her 70s and snatched her handbag before a member of the public stopped him.

It was reported that at around 10pm yesterday the victim was walking with another woman into the Crescent Road car park, Tunbridge Wells, when she was approached by a man.

The victim was pushed and her handbag was taken.

A member of the public reportedly intervened and the handbag was recovered.

The victim suffered cuts and bruising but did not require hospital attendance.

The suspect was described as a white man, with fair hair, and wore a blue polo shirt and grey joggers.

Officers would to hear from any witnesses who saw the incident, and in particular, would like to speak to the man who intervened and recovered the victim’s handbag.
