Former Tunbridge Wells mayor and Paddock Wood councillor, Stanley Ward, dies

A former mayor of Tunbridge Wells and a councillor of more than 30 years, has died.
Stanley Ward was a councillor for Paddock Wood Wood from 1983 to 2015 and mayor from 2002 to 2003.
He died on Wednesday, April 15, after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Paying tribute to the father of one, leader of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Cllr Alan McDermott said: "I was so very sorry to hear the news of Stan’s death and my thoughts are with his wife Edith, family and friends at this very sad time.
"Stan had been involved in local politics for many years and he worked tirelessly for residents as a parish and then borough councillor.
"He stands as an example to us all and will be greatly missed."
Educated at The Stationers Company Grammar School in north London, he worked successfully for insurance company Aviva for 35 years.
After retiring from Aviva, he forged a career in the printing business.
He also served as president of the Tunbridge Wells Twinning & Friendship Association.
