Woman who died in Tunbridge Wells fire named as Peggy Northwood

A pensioner who tragically died in hospital after being rescued from a fire at her home has been named as Peggy Northwood.

The 80-year-old was pulled from her smoke-filled property by firefighters in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Paramedics attended the scene at Mount Sion in Tunbridge Wells before taking her to hospital where she sadly passed away.

On the morning of her death, three fire engines were sent to her home where she was found stuck.

Kent Fire and Rescue got her out of the house and extinguished a fire in a first floor room.

Forensic teams were seen at the scene carrying out investigations.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
