Hunt for hit-and-run driver

POLICE are today searching for a hit-and-run driver after a teenage pedestrain suffered head injuries in an incident at Hawkenbury, near Tunbridge Wells.

The 18-year-old male victim is recovering in hospital. Police are now appealing for any witnesses or people with information which may help them trace the driver.

The collision occurred near the Spread Eagle public house in Forest Road, Hawkenbury, at about 3.30pm yesterday. The pedestrian was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital. His condition is said to be "stable".

Forest Road was closed in both directions as a result of the accident and traffic was diverted via Hawkenbury Road, Maryland Road and Forest Way while initial investigations were made.
