Maidstone has produced some pretty famous people but none have had a karaoke night named after them... until now.

Actor Shaun Williamson, famed for his role as Barry from EastEnders and for playing himself in Ricky Gervais' extras, is set to perform a medley of hits in Tunbridge Wells this autumn.

The Forum is a stalwart of Kent's music scene and is built in a former public toilet in the leafy commuter town. It struggled through lockdown but is back with a bumper summer schedule.

Announcing the event on Twitter the venue said: "YES ITS TRUE. @ShaunWilliamson is coming to The Forum in Tunbridge Wells on Fri 10th Sep. He will be bringing the BARRIOKE party to town and we cannot wait. Tickets go on general sale Thursday 27th April at 10am

"MUSTANG SALLY!!!"

The last part a reference to his booming - if short - rendition of Mustang Sally on Extras.

The 55-year-old father-of-three will take part in what has been dubbed 'Barrioke' at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells on Friday, September 10.

He was born in Park Wood and attended Holy Family RC Primary School and St Simon Stock Catholic School before going on to land the star role after spells in the Navy as a Bluecoat for Pontin's holiday park and at supermarket Safeway.

He then joined acting school and went on to play Barry from 1994 to 2004.

Since then he has acted in a number of big name shows but has also belted out classics at such major events as 2014's World Indoor Bowls Championship at Great Yarmouth.

There he entertained crowds with a barnstorming performance of Labi Siffre's 1987 hit (Something Inside) So Strong.

More recently the same performance saw him find fame after a video went viral of him seemingly singing at Donald Trump's inauguration.

The clip switches from Shaun's powerful lyrics to a sombre-looking Donald Trump and ends on the 45th US President and his family applauding.

The karaoke sing-along style party will start at 7.30pm with DJs through the rest of the night at the venue in London Road.

Tickets for the evening cost £20 and go on sale from 10am today.
