A one-of-a-kind classic car - combining the elegant front of a Jaguar with the more workaday rear of a Morris Minor - has been put on sale by a Kent dealer.

The 'cut-and-shut' Foxbat was created by chemist and Jaguar enthusiast Geoffrey Stevens in the late 1970s because he wanted a motor with more room at the back to carry his two dogs and his equipment.

Crafted from a Jaguar XK150 and a Morris Minor, the car is well-known in Jag circles and is now being sold by Tunbridge Wells dealer Justin Banks with a listed price of £44,995.

"This is something that you don't see every day," Mr Banks said.

"He and his wife needed a more practical car to transport kit around, with room for their two dogs, and he decided to do his own conversion.

"It took him several years to complete, using a very rusty Jaguar XK150 and a Morris Minor. You can see exactly where joins the other.

"It really is incredibly interesting and, as far as we know, it is the only one in existence."

The vehicle, christened the Foxbat by its creator, is a unique version of a style of car known as the shooting brake - which developed from horse-drawn wagons used to carry shooting parties to the hunt.

Mr Banks said: "It was sold by Mr Stevens in the 1980s and spent many years in France before being transported back to the UK in 2008, since when it has been carefully stored and run regularly.

"We know the car spent many years in a French collection, including many other shooting brakes."
