A drug dealer who lashed out at officers after being caught in possession of crack cocaine and heroin has been jailed for three years and two months.

Police stopped a car in Edward Street, Southborough in July as they believed the occupants to be involved in the supply of class A substances.

Sitting in the passenger seat was Kevin Mamongo who barged at the officers when told he was going to be searched before attempting to run away.

The 23-year-old, from Croydon, was tackled to the floor but continued to struggle, causing one officer to suffer a cut to his elbow, before eventually being restrained.

A small plastic package that fell from his waistband contained eight wraps of heroine and 10 of crack cocaine. Another package discovered in his trouser pocket contained four wraps of heroin and one of crack cocaine.

Officers also found about £500 cash and a mobile telephone that provided evidence of Mamongo’s drug dealing activities.

He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, July 31 having pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply.

Sgt David Higham, of the Tunbridge Wells community safety unit, said: "Every drug dealer sent to prison is a victory in our ongoing fight to rid our town of this destructive trade.

"I hope this sentencing sends a loud and clear message that drug dealers are not welcome in Tunbridge Wells, and that we will do everything in our power to keep them out."
