A Tunbridge Wells charity which provides support for people suffering from mental health illnesses is the latest to receive a donation from the Kent Police Property Fund.

The scheme that distributes money from the sale of unclaimed lost property or items seized during police operations.

Money raised from the fund is distributed twice a year to local groups who provide a service to communities in Kent.

Mental Health Resource was presented with a cheque for £500 by chief inspector Dave Pate on Monday. He said: "The property fund allows us to support a number of groups which are vitally important to our local communities.

"The work that Mental Health Resource do is invaluable to many people throughout the Tunbridge Wells district and I’m delighted we can make this donation."

Mental Health Resource was one of seven organisations announced last month in west Kent to benefit from the scheme.

Chairman for Mental Health Resource, Len Horwood added: "We are very grateful to the police for this donation. It will be used to purchase a security device for one of our lone working employees, helping to protect them while working away from of the office."
