A 10-year-old from Tunbridge Wells has made his debut in the West End.

Finn Barwell, a pupil at the Schools at Somerhill in Tonbridge, is one of three children playing the character of Mason in Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s School of Rock – The Musical, now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.

Finn, who trains at the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Tunbridge Wells, said: “I am enjoying everything about being in the show.

"I knew I could dance a little, but the choreographers have worked their magic and I love all of the dancing - I even have to leap off desks and amps!

"It’s great being a part of the children’s team and I have really enjoyed our rehearsals.

"I know how important it is for me to make sure I keep up with all my school-work commitments too. The adult cast members are also really fun and make me laugh a lot. My school has supported me and lots of my friends are coming to see me. Being in School of Rock - The Musical is one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

His mother, Alison Barwell, said: "Finn loved every minute of rehearsals and could not wait for his first performance.

"He has loved singing and performing from an early age."
