An accident involving a car and a lorry blocked a busy main road this evening.

The A21, Hastings Road, was shut both ways following the collision between Matfield and Lamberhurst.

Traffic was moving slowly following the accident which happened around 5.10pm.

A police spokesman said: "The collision is reported to have blocked both carriageways and officers are currently at the scene.

"At present, no serious injuries have been reported."
