The trial of a 62-year-old man accused of killing his partner at his Tunbridge Wells home has been delayed further.

Keith Solly was originally due to have his case heard at Maidstone Crown Court on June 1. It was then put back a week. It is now due to take place on June 22.

Prosecutor Philipa McAtasney QC said even that date “may be in jeopardy” because of delays over medical reports.

But Judge Jeremy Carey said every effort would be made to keep that date. It will be tried by High Court Judge Mr Justice Spencer.

“The date has got to be met,” said Judge Carey. “It can be done. We have just got to work hard to achieve it.”

Solly is alleged to have murdered grandmother Yvonne Tapp, 58, whose body was recovered from his flat in Lady’s Gift Road on December 5 last year. The cause of death was believed to be asphyxia.

Solly, who is currently in the Trevor Gibbens Unit at Maidstone Hospital, was not present for the pre-trial review on Friday.
