Eagle-eyed viewers of Amazon Prime Video’s latest fantasy show might spot some familiar locations when the newest series airs tomorrow.

Scenes for season two of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power were filmed at the High Rocks and Harrison’s Rocks, near Tunbridge Wells, on the Kent and East Sussex border.

The drama is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s history of Middle Earth and is largely found in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings books.

Created by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, the show is set thousands of years before the final battle for Middle Earth and the age when the rings were forged.

The second season picks up where the first left off with the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron and the creation of more Rings of Power.

Amazon Prime’s description adds: “Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, the Dark Lord must now rely on his cunning to rebuild his strength and forge the legendary Rings of Power, threatening to bind all peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.

“Season 2 plunges its most beloved characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find his or her place in a world on the brink of calamity.”

Its star-studded cast includes Pride and Prejudice’s Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Puerto Rican actor Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir and Australian actor Charlie Vickers as Sauron.

Although the first series, which was released on the streaming platform in 2022 was filmed in New Zealand, production was moved to the UK for season 2.

The Kent Film Office has since confirmed scenes were shot at sandstone formations the High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells and Harrison’s Rocks, in Groombridge, on the county’s border.

Crews filmed for two days in October 2022.

Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow (August 29).
