Police have issued an appeal for a large shark head to be returned, after it was stolen from a pub.

The fibreglass sculpture went missing from outside The Bedford in Tunbridge Wells.

It had been put out the front for three weeks running, but was stolen within 45 minutes of being taken outside on that day.

Police have now asked for any information, with a tweet by Kent Police Tunbridge Wells reading: "Our officers have released a photograph of a fibre glass shark reported stolen from outside a public house in #TunbridgeWells High Street.

"Anyone who knows where the stolen item can be found is asked contact us on 01622 604100, quoting reference number 46/10746/20."

Landlords and shark's head owners, Avelina and Steven Hood, spoke to KentOnline last month about the incident.

They said it had become part of the family, being a hold-over from Mr Hood's previous business selling statues and figures of film and cartoon characters.

The head proved to be a talking point in the village of Hawkenbury, where they displayed it outside of their home.

Mrs Hood said: "We're just really disappointed it could be taken on a bright sunny day in the middle of the day.

"We were trying to give a boost to the business and thought it would make the High Street a bit less depressing.

"We didn't chain it up - we didn't think anyone would come along and take it."
