Detectives investigating an attempted murder in Tunbridge Wellshave released images of a distinctive mobile phone believed to have been taken from the victim.

Robert Reynolds, 60, suffered multiple fractures to his skull after he was attacked in his own home in Dorking Road, Tunbridge Wells on Monday, May 26.

Officers renewed an appeal for information two months on from the attack, by releasing images of the victim's injuries. Now nearly six months on, inquiries are still ongoing.

The black and yellow coloured JCB phoneis missing from the home of Mr Reynolds.

The alarm was raised by a friend who had visited the property between 5pm and 5.30pmand who found the victim lying on the floor groaning in pain.

Before the attack Mr Reynolds had been at home watching a game of football on television, but doesn't remember letting anyone into the property.

Two months on from the incident the victim has now left hospital and is recovering.

However, his mobile phone - described as having a distinctive JCB yellow cover - and his wallet are still reported to be missing.

DC Dave Bull, of Kent Police, has urged members of the public for any information which may help with their enquiries.

He said: "This was a vicious and sustained attack which has left the victim suffering shocking injuries.

"It appears that entry to the property was not forced and we are still actively pursuing a number of enquiries as to establish the motive for this attack, including that Mr Reynolds may have known the offender."

Mr Reynolds had been out and about in the local area earlier in the day including driving in the Greggs Wood Road area of Sherwood.

DC Bull added: "This happened on a bank holiday weekend. Perhaps you know someone who visited the area around this time who has acted suspiciously, or who has returned home with blood stains on their clothing? You may have seen Mr Reynolds' wallet or phone with its distinctive yellow cover."
