Two men have been arrested after an armoured van was robbed in Tunbridge Wells today.

The vehicle was targeted in Fordcombe Road just after 11.30am. The suspects left the scene in a car pursued by detectives from Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad.

The chase ended in Manor Road, Rusthall after the car crashed into a garden and the two men ran off.

A 40-year-old man was arrested after being brought down by a taser in Erskinne Park Road. A second man, aged 31 was later discovered hiding in a wheelie bin in a back garden thanks to support from a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

Manor Road resident Abbey Lant told Kent Online she saw a man being put into the back of a riot van and money and other items being removed from the getaway vehicle.

She said:"[The] getaway car has been pushed into my neighbours garden. Money and other items [have been] retrieved by police."

All the money taken during today's robbery has been recovered and both men are now in custody at a south London police station. Officers from Kent police supported the operation locally.
