Open air theatre and weddings are now part of a pub's offering.

Tunbridge Wells' first amphitheatre has been built in the grounds of The Beacon.

Doubling up as a wedding venue, the 100-seat theatre finished hosting its first production last week, with a performance of The 39 Steps.

Tobias Cornwell, from pub owners I'll Be Mother, said: "There's a lot of public theatre in London but this is a step up.

"Crowds get to sit outdoors and watch theatre with the beautiful backdrop of the Garden of England.

"We wanted to create a whole experience, visitors can have something to eat and drink at The Beacon and then visit the venue in our grounds.

"The production of The 39 Steps went really well, people were asking when our next showing will be.

"Obviously its slightly dependent on the Great British summertime, but we have a cover we can use to keep the audience dry.

"The actors might get a bit wet but they don't mind."
