Police officers investigating the fatal accident that killed pensioner Edward Barlow are appealing for new witnesses.

The 95-year-old died at the scene after he was hit by a Ford Transit on the A26 London Road, near the junction with Springfield Road, in Southborough.

The accident happened on Monday, December 29 at 10.25am.

In particular officers would like to hear from the occupants of a red Ford car – possibly a Fiesta, Focus or C-MAX.

It is believed they turned left into Springfield Road just after the incident and may have seen what happened.

Originally from Bury in Greater Manchester, Ted Barlow, 95, had lived in the town since 1999.

His family in a tribute said: "Ted served in the RAF in North Africa and Italy in the Second World War after graduating from Cambridge University.

"He was a keen sportsman, particularly rugby union, skiing and, throughout his life, golf.

"Ted was widowed in 2013 and was much loved by all his friends and family, both locally and in Bury. He will be greatly missed."
