Travellers spend fifth day on The Ridgewaye Fields, Southborough

A group of travellers have taken over a playing field used for children’s football for the fifth day in a row.

Officers received reports of an unauthorised encampment at The Ridgewaye, Southborough, on Monday at around 10.40pm and officers attended.

The council says 12 caravans had arrived and its community safety staff had taken action to begin the eviction process.

They are monitoring the site in the meantime.

A spokesperson for Tunbridge Wells council said: “This morning a court order has been obtained and this has been served on the group requiring them to leave with immediate effect.”
