A couple who spent a year lovingly renovating a van for their wedding and honeymoon have been left devastated after it was stolen.

Jay and Abigail Christie, of Nevill Terrace, Tunbridge Wells, have spent months over the last year turning the former Network Rail van into a campervan-style vehicle, which they stayed in for three days for their wedding in Somerset last month.

They also planned to take an extended honeymoon in it next summer on a road trip across America.

But just over a week after their nuptials, they found it had disappeared from their residents' parking outside their home.

Mr Christie said: "It is our baby, really. We have spent countless 24-hour shifts in the wind and rain and put in blood, sweat and tears to build the thing. Now this has happened."

He said: "I went to take Abigail to work this morning and there was no van. The plan was to take it around America next year, and do Route 66. We both love country music so we were going to go to all the country places. Now that won't be happening."

He added: "Neither of us had the skills to begin with to turn it into what we wanted. It was like team building for us."

The van has blue and grey decal stripe running down both sides and a chrome bull bar, plus a solar panel on the roof. Its registration is YS07UYV.

The theft has been reported to police. If you can help contact police on 101.
