A recovering heroin addict hanged herself after stumbling into a neighbour's garden to get help.

Jessica Linehan was found near-death on the stairs of her Tunbridge Wells home in November.

The 36-year-old had previously knocked on her neighbour's back door and said she'd taken an overdose, before collapsing.

The woman called for an ambulance but in the meantime Mrs Linehan disappeared.

When paramedics arrived they were pointed in the direction of her house in Charles Street.

The unemployed divorcee was found hanging from her stairs and rushed to Tunbridge Wells hospital at Pembury.

Sadly, she failed to make a full recovery and her life support machine was turned off the following day.

During an inquest into her death on Wednesday coroner Roger Hatch heard Mrs Lineham had left an abusive relationship, which had a long lasting impact on her mental health, to live with her father in the town.

He recorded a verdict of suicide.
