A Kent grandmother has the dubious honour of being named Britain's worst holiday photographer.

Jayne Boorman, from Pembury, won the title after her daughter-in-law Sally submitted the winning image on her behalf.

Her blurry shot of her family posing with a character called Duffy the Disney Bear - but showing mostly the ground - wowed the judges.

Sally's son is called Duffy and the grandparents shelled out on the once in a lifetime trip at the end of last year to meet the bear.

However, the picture did not quite come out as planned.

"It's a running joke in the family that Jayne's a terrible photographer, but I wrongly thought this was an easy photo to take and surely she couldn't mess it up..." Sally Boorman

Thankfully for the Boormans, Jayne was not the only one entrusted with a camera and the family did get some great pictures to remember the day.

Sally said: "It's a running joke in the family that Jayne's a terrible photographer, but I wrongly thought this was an easy photo to take and surely she couldn't mess it up.

"How wrong I was. Thank goodness my husband took some photos too.

"Despite me swearing the children to secrecy, they did let slip to their grandma that we'd entered her photo and she was really pleased.

“Let’s hope she can master the camera she’s won. If not, we could be entering another one of her delights next year."

Runners-up in the competition also submitted some fantastic photography fails.

Eddie Clamp, 72, from Selsey, tried to take an action shot of one of his diving colleagues - but ended up getting a great shot of his fins.

Darryl Green, 24, from Southend created an abstract piece when his dad was obscured by a leaf on a family photo taken in Majorca.

Steve Barnes, from CheapHolidayLand.com, which organised the competition, said: "The response we had to the competition was amazing and it was hard to pick a winner.

"All the photos really were terrible, but the one Sally entered caught our eye.

"We loved the story behind it too – the fact that they'd queued for ages in the Florida heat and humidity just to get this photo – and the mother-in-law messed it up."
