A woman from Kent surprised her husband on their wedding anniversary by reuniting him with car they married in nearly 40 years ago.
Zoe Snell, from Dartford was determined to track down the MG Midget that carried her and her husband, Terry, to and from their ceremony on their special day.
She managed to contact the current owner, Graham Bird from Tunbridge Wells and secretly arranged to reunite her husband with the 1995 classic which holds many memories for the happy couple.
She said: “My husband has always wondered what happened to the car and has been desperately trying to track it down himself for year."
The surprise meeting took place on Saturday, August 30 and with the help of Lise Alexander-Smith, Underwriting Manager at Lancaster Insurance, Zoe managed to keep Terry completely fooled until the very last minute.
Zoe added: "It was really exciting covertly arranging it all and surprising him. We are so happy it has been in the same hands for such a long time, and without a doubt, respected and loved.
"I want to offer my thanks to Graham for making it all possible; it was lovely to see it again, we had a wonderful day.”
Graham Bird bought the car for his late wife in 1979 and restored it in 1986. He has been running it ever since and said: "It's off the road and needs some work these days, which I'll undertake as a retirement project.
"I was happy for Zoe to surprise Terry with it as it's given me so much pleasure over the years. It's nice to meet a previous owner and be able to give something back. The car is very special to me."
Richard Morley, operations director for Lancaster Insurance said: "Zoe's appeal really pulled at our heart string and we're so happy to have been able to help.
"It's great to see that the car has been dearly loved by Graham and amazing to see the memories this little MG Midget still evokes in people years down the line.
"We're delighted that Zoe and Terry enjoyed their day."
