KentOnline has recently posted stories about Chicory Tip, the 1970s' chart-topping band that reached No1 with Son Of My Father.
The band was unusual in that all the original members went to school together - at South Borough in Maidstone.
Now a new band of school-mates is hoping to emulate their success.
The Polygons comprise three current sixth-form students at Mascalls Academy in Paddock Wood, and one Mascalls student who left last year.
Still at school doing their A-levels are Joshua Hall, William Aers and Keelan Shrimpton, while currently on his gap year is Samuel Couchman.
The band formed two years ago and is managed by Joshua's dad, John Hall.
Keelan plays the drums, Joshua and Sam are the lead guitarists, and Will the bass guitarist. Joshua, Will and Sam all take a turn at the vocals.
They have already performed around 20 professional gigs and last Saturday head-lined their own show at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells.
Joshua described their music as "indie-rock-pop."
All are studying music among their other subjects and also have music in their families with parents or siblings also playing an instrument.
John Hall said: "When they finish their A-levels in June, the four are on a mission to break into the world of music and become a household name for the future."
They are currently looking forward to returning to The Forum on Saturday, September 25, when they will be supporting Toploader - of Dancing In The Moonlight fame.
In the meantime, you can catch a glimpse of The Polygons at The John Brunt pub in Church Road, Paddock Wood, on Saturday, March 28, from 8.30pm.
Go along and see them now, then you will be able to tell your grand-kids: "Oh yes, I knew them before they were famous!"
