An Asda supermarket has been accused of posing a contamination risk after raw chicken was pictured open next to a fruit and veg stand.
The store in Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells, has come under fire from a customer who uploaded the photograph to twitter, branding the set-up "disgusting".
In a tweet identifying the wrong industrial estate, hospital worker C.A Powell wrote: "So this is acceptable now in your stores! Open raw chicken next to fruit and veg, serious cross contamination risk.
"Don’t ever buy any fruit or veg from the High Brooms industrial estate store as you could end up with food poisoning! @asda
"You should be ashamed! Disgusting."
Another twitter user, Jet Convoy, made light of the situation, suggesting it was unlikely the meat would come into contact with the fresh produce.
"I don't think that chicken will spring back to life and dance on the shelves," he wrote.
An Asda spokesman said: "While we have no complaint of this nature logged in store nor know any reason how this could happen in our processes, we take any complaints seriously and would welcome the opportunity to speak to the customer directly so we can investigate further".
