Partners at a Kent firm will receive an unexpected bonus at a team training session next week - a visit from a leading law academic.
Staff at Thomson Snell & Passmore will welcome Professor Dominic Regan of City University on Monday, October 6.
The experience will run for half a day and is led by a costs lawyer designed to build expertise among colleagues.
Firms undertaking the programme, arranged by pricing consultancy Burcher Jennings, have reported significant improvements after.
This is the first time that Professor Regan has joined the Burcher Jennings team in presenting to a law firm.
Professor Dominic Regan said: “We never stop learning. It’s refreshing for me to escape the university campus and meet practising lawyers in their workplace.

“Costs, as determined by the courts, are a complex and often misunderstood field. Working alongside Burcher Jennings colleagues, themselves experts in pricing and costs, I hope that we can bring a new perspective for the team at Thomson Snell & Passmore.”
Martyn Jennings, CEO of Burcher Jennings said: "The Burcher Jennings Costs Programme is already unique, in that it brings together two distinct but overlapping disciplines - costs and pricing - to give the firm understanding and techniques to price appropriately while building trusting relationships with clients.
"We are fortunate to be able to involve Dominic in this way. He brings a different, strategic view."
Simon Slater, practice director at Thomson Snell & Passmore said: “In today’s ever more complex litigation climate, it makes sense to keep a close eye on developments and ensure that our lawyers are up to date with current expectations and thinking.
"We are therefore very pleased to have this opportunity to spend high quality time with an expert in the field of the stature of Professor Regan.”
