Firefighters were called to a chimney fire at a house in Madeira Park, Tunbridge Wells, a little after 9pm last night. Two fire engines were sent to the scene and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
No casualties were reported.
It's believed the fire started accidentally when flames from a gas fire ignited objects placed in the chimney to prevent draughts.
Crews left the scene after 35 minutes.
Following the incident, crews are reminding people to make sure their chimneys are clear of flammable objects and to ensure they are swept at least once a year.
A clean chimney can help to prevent fires and structural damage to your home.
