Three people have been arrested in a crackdown on drugs in Tunbridge Wells.
Quantities of substances believed to be heroin and cocaine have been seized by officers in the past week, as a clampdown on criminals travelling to the town from other areas continues.
On Monday, October 20 two men were arrested in Hungershall Park, on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.
Trevor Cope, 52, of Gladstone Road, Tunbridge Wells was later charged with possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.
Christopher Gibson, 45, of Durnsford Road, Wimbledon, faces the same charges. Both men have been bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday November, 7.
In a separate incident, on the following day, a 26-year-old man from London was also arrested in connection with supplying drugs in the Tunbridge Wells area.
"This isn’t a problem which is going to go away overnight, but every arrest we make is another step in the right direction." -Ch Insp Dave Pate
He remains in police custody.
District Commander Chief Inspector Dave Pate said: "It’s been a very busy week for my officers, who are continuing to target and arrest those who we believe are visiting our town with the sole intention of dealing drugs.
"This isn’t a problem which is going to go away overnight, but every arrest we make is another step in the right direction.
"Our use of both uniformed and plain clothes officers is making it very hard for criminals to sell drugs in this town and there will be no let-up in our determination to keep these people of our streets."
