Police say a missing man has now been safely located.

Officers were yesterday asking the public to help them find missing Peter Penfold, who is 62 and from Hawkhurst, near Cranbrook.

Officers were growing increasingly concerned for his welfare after he went missing at about noon yesterday.

A spokesman for Kent Police said overnight: "A 62-year-old man reported missing from Hawkhurst earlier today has now been safely located.

"Many thanks to everyone who assisted with our appeal."
