A woman used credit cards with fake names to buy a laptop and a mobile phone.
Police are appealing for the public's help after the fraudulent buys in Tunbridge Wells.
A CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to has been released.
On March 6 police heard a woman had used credit cards with a fake name to buy a laptop from a shop in Longfield Road and a mobile phone from a store in Royal Victoria Place Shopping Centre.
She failed when trying to buy another phone at the shopping centre and again at Linden Park Road.
Officers are working with colleagues from Essex and the Metropolitan Police as there are cases being possibly linked to the same offender.
The woman in the image is asked to come forward as officers believe she may have information in relation to their inquiry.
Officers are also appealing to anyone who knows the woman or her whereabouts to get in touch.
Anyone else who has information is asked to call police on 01622 604100, quoting crime reference 46/53934/19, or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
