Traces of DNA discovered on bags of cocaine found in a car pulled over by police have led to a dealer being jailed.

Officers stopped the vehicle in Tunbridge Wells after reports of suspicious activity, and the subsequent search uncovered 30 bags of cocaine in the rear footwell along with cash and a small amount of cannabis.

The drugs seized were sent for forensic analysis and the tests identified the genetic marker of Jack Davis, who was a passenger in the car when it was stopped in London Road in September 2018.

Further analysis of the 29-year-old's phone revealed evidence of communication with drug users he sold to.

Davis, of Pell Green in Wadhurst, was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis. He pleaded guilty at court and on Friday at Maidstone Crown Court he was sentenced to three years and six months’ imprisonment.

DC Mark Beeching, of West Kent CID, said: "Davis is a repeat offender, who has clearly been undeterred by previous punishments and prison sentences.

"The suffering and devastation dealers like him cause to individuals, their families and to local communities is often far reaching. Thankfully the courts have passed a significant sentence which reflects the seriousness and impact of this crime."
