Don’t throw away that broken necklace or damaged toy, perhaps it could be fixed.

The volunteers of the Rusthall Repair Cafe will be gathering at the Sunnyside Hall in Rusthall Road, Rusthall, near Tunbridge Wells, on Saturday, May 27, and they will have a go at fixing your broken item for free.

The idea is to prevent so much gear going to landfill and reduce waste in our society. Around 12 volunteers will be on hand between noon and 2.30pm and will tackle anything from bicycle repairs to knife sharpening, jewellery to mobile phones.

Enjoy a drink and homemade cake while you wait.

All welcome and donations appreciated.

The concept of Repair Cafes is flourishing and there are also cafes in Tunbridge Wells and in Bearsted in Maidstone, where KentOnline recently put the service to the test.

Rusthall volunteer Niki Hope said: “We would like to expand our offer and be able to help more people. So if you have a particular skill or trade and can give up a few hours, please get in touch.”
