Police are investigating the alleged fatal shooting of a former Kent man in Florida.

It's reported British ex-pat Paul Winter, who was originally from Tunbridge Wells, was shot several times in front of his wife Jennifer and her seven-year-old twins on Friday.

According to the Miami Herald, Cristobal Palacio has been charged with first degree murder and is due to appear in court on Monday, November 17.

A spokesman from the Foreign Office confirmed the victim's name and said: "(We) were informed on October 18, and local police are investigating.

"The Foreign Office is providing assistance to the family."
