Fire crews called to Bewlbridge Lane, Lamberhurst

Fire officers extinguished a blaze at a water works in Lamberhurst this morning.

Two engines were called to reports of a dustbin fire in the single-storey building, owned by South East Water, in Bewlbridge Lane, Lamberhurst, at 8.15am.

Crews entered the commercial property using breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

South East Water's Production Manager, Philip Harpum, said: "A fan in the wall of the generator room caught light earlier this morning.

"The smoke alarm was activated and the fire service were called and quickly dealt with the incident.

"The fire was quite a distance from the water treatment area and only minor damage was caused."

South East Water confirmed they're investigation the cause of the blaze.

A hose reel jet was used to put the fire out.

The crews left the site at 9.12am.
