French woman subjected to kiss assault in street

A YOUNG French woman was assaulted as she was walking home in a Kent town on Saturday.

The 20-year-old, who has only recently come to live in the country to work as an au pair, was near the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells on her way home between 2pm and 2.30pm.

She reached the shops at Union Square, Eridge Road, when she was approached by a group of four men who shouted things to her that she could not understand.

One of the men grabbed her and tried to kiss her cheek, but she managed to struggle free and run off.

The man was white, aged between 30 and 35, 6ft tall and had dark, receding hair. He was wearing a jeans and a white t-shirt.

The other three men were also white and of a similar age.

Police say the victim was very distressed by the incident but did not suffer any physical injuries.
