Tunbridge Wells MP Greg Clark has a new role in Theresa May’s post-Cameron Government.
Mr Clark has moved from his slot as Communities and Local Government Secretary to become Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, a move that is seen as a promotion.
The newly created Ministry combines the functions of both the former Department for Energy and Climate Change, with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
Mr Clark said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed to lead this new department charged with delivering a comprehensive industrial strategy, leading government’s relationship with business, furthering our world-class science base, delivering affordable, clean energy and tackling climate change.”
Mr Clark has previous experience with climate change. Between 2008 and 2010, when the Conservatives were in opposition, he was the shadow secretary for energy and climate change.
Meanwhile Michael Fallon, MP for Sevenoaks, remains in his role as Defence Secretary, a position the 64-year-old has held since 2014.
Mr Fallon has been deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, and has previously served as Energy and Business Minister, and before that Secretary of State for Business and Enterprise.
He gets a seat in the cabinet as does Ashford MP Damian Green, who has been appointed as the Minister for Work and Pensions.
Mr Green, the former Minister for Policing and Criminal Justice and former Schools Minister, was a key supporter of Mrs May ‘s leadership campaign.
Chatham and Aylesford MP Tracey Crouch, who was the Sports Minister, is still waiting to hear her fate as Mrs May completes her reshufffle.
