A bouncer sprung into action and saved a man’s life after he had a heart attack and collapsed onto the bathroom floor of a bar.
Door supervisor Justin Lee was asked to go to the toilets to what he originally thought was a “punch-up” at The Pitcher & Piano in Tunbridge Wells.
When he got there, he found a member of the public collapsed on the floor, and soon realised how serious things were.
The 46-year-old, who lives in the town, said: “When I got there, there was an unconscious male lying on the floor. He was clutching his chest to which I radioed through to call an ambulance.
“I then realised he was in a lot more distress than just being unconscious and I started giving him CPR. I gave it to him for, I think, over 10 minutes.”
Justin managed to revive the man, who appeared to be in his late 30s, twice and he was taken to hospital in an ambulance shortly after.
“My head doorman has been in contact with him and he’s as well as he can be,” he said.
“I thought it was a heart attack because he was clutching his chest. He started making that sort of death rattle sound – it’s like someone sounding like they’re snoring.
“Fortunately, I only did my first aid top-up a couple of months ago so it was quite fresh in my head.”
Justin works for Fetch Fire & Security LTD and his boss, Paul Manley, is proud of his doorman’s actions during the early hours of Saturday, November 4.
Paul, who owns the security firm, said: “If it was not for the door supervisor doing CPR twice, this person would have died.
"Door supervisors are always cast as bad and never shown in a good light and this has been an amazing outcome."
