A Tunbridge Wells man has been charged with assaulting and spitting at police officers.

Alexandru Pletosu, 28 and of Broadwater Down, was arrested after police were called to a disturbance outside his home.

As he was being arrested it is alleged Pletosu then attacked and verbally abused officers.

Following Sunday's incident, he has now been charged with two offences of assault by beating, assaulting a police constable in the execution of their duty and obstructing or resisting a police constable in the execution of their duty.

Pletosu has been bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on October 16.
