A man was found dead by a police officer who was looking through the woods for stolen items, an inquest has heard.
Colin Smithers was found hanged by PC Clarke on Tuesday, July 2, as he searched woods in Hungershall Park, Tunbridge Wells in an unrelated incident.
The 38-year-old sales advisor, whose address is not known, was identified by his girlfriend and police after they viewed CCTV footage and identified some jewellery he was wearing.
He had been missing from Crowborough since Monday, June 17.
An inquest at Maidstone's Archbishop Palace on Wednesday heard how a post mortem gave the cause of death as hanging.
A full hearing into Mr Smither's death will be heard on Wednesday, September 11.
