Man rescued by fire crews after blaze at home in Woodland Way, Tunbridge Wells

A man in his 70s was rescued by firefighters during a house blaze.

An investigation has been launched after 35 firefighters in five engines tackled the fire which started just before 10pm last night.

The victim was given first aid before being handed over to paramedics, who arrived just after 10.20pm at the home in Woodland Way, Tunbridge Wells.

Fire crews used a height vehicle, breathing apparatus and jets to contain the blaze, but some remain at the property.

The cause of the fire, which had taken hold at the back of the two storey property and spread to the roof, is not yet known.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed that all of the blaze had been extinguished by 10.30am this morning.

Crews and the fire investigation team remain on the scene.
