A man suffered serious injuries this morning after being struck by a train as it arrived at a railway station.
The incident happened at High Brooms station, Tunbridge Wells, at just after 11am as the 9.45am Charing Cross to Hastings train was pulling in.
The man, who fell from the platform on to the track, was treated by Kent Air Ambulance medics and then taken to Kings College Hospital in London.
The station in North Farm Road was closed for two hours while emergency services dealt with the casualty and British Transport Police officers interviewed passengers.
No details have been released about the man yet, but Insp Chris Connell, of British Transport Police, said: “There is no suspicion of a crime.”
Nigel Jarrett, of South Eastern Railway, said the line’s 750 watt current was isolated while the emergency crews dealt with the man. He said the train driver and crew were being offered counselling as was normal procedure when these incidents happened.
He was initially lifted on to the platform and treated there before being taken to hospital.
He added: “We arranged a bus shuttle service between Tonbridge and Frant. The station reopened at about 1pm.”
