A man was taken to hospital following a stabbing near a busy town centre.
Police were called to reports of an assault in Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells.
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 1.22pm.
The man was taken to a London hospital with injuries consistent with stab wounds.
His condition is not being treated as life threatening.
No arrests have yet been made and inquiries are ongoing.
A witness at the scene reported seeing unusual activity behind the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre at around 1.20pm.
Julian Wilson said: "I saw a man running off towards the Goods Station Road/Victoria Road area.
"A few seconds later there were a couple of younger men talking about their phone.
"One lifted his shirt up and there was a significant amount of blood, though whether he had fallen or been stabbed wasn't clear.
He added: "They then walked down the alleyway between the rear of the post office and the multi-storey car park."
A police cordon was put in place along Upper Grosvenor Road, around the Meadow Road car park and towards Goods Station Road.
As of 4.15pm it remained closed between Grosvenor Road and Meadow Road.
An air ambulance was also spotted landing earlier at the grass verge opposite Church Road.
Phone shop owner Erdal said Upper Grosvenor Road was closed from around 2.30pm.
He said: "There are two police cars for this side and four or five police officers are outside."
Forensics officers were also spotted in the area carrying out investigations.
The incident caused a traffic backlog in the town up towards the Meadow Road car park.
